Are you missing the show?
I am, too.
I strive to have two new shows every month, but sometimes that's not possible. I insist on interviewing all of my guests in person. Normally, that's not a problem. Thanks to the Miami Book Fair, our popular independent bookstore Books & Books, two well regarded MFA programs at the University of Miami and Florida International University, writers are always coming through South Florida.
But sometimes the parade of writers dries up. And sometimes the writers who are coming are not the writers you've come to expect to hear on the ReadMore podcast. Sometimes writers or their publicists turn down my request for an interview. It's just part of the business. You learn not to take these things personally.
As you know, we primarily feature women writers of color, and that's not going to change. So please bear with us during this dry spell. Go back and listen to some of our old shows. We still have plenty of free books to give away. I'm dying to send you one.
Here are a few to get you started:
Episode 019: Jacqueline Woodson on her novel, Another Brooklyn
Episode 017: Jennifer Tseng on her novel, Mayumi and the Sea of Happiness
Episode 014: Daniel José Older on his novel, Midnight Taxi Tango
In the meantime, I'll continue looking for authors to interview, and hopefully, we'll be back in the next few weeks.
