So today we're trying something new, or more accurately, we're tying to do something old in a new way.
In the early days of ReadMore, we did something called a QuickRead where we interviewed one author about another. It was cool, strictly print feature, but we just did it once.
Today, we're back with another QuickRead. But this version features a former guest talking about her upcoming book and what she's been reading lately.
Award-winning author Natalia Sylvester is a ReadMore vet. She's been on the show two times in the past. Please go back and listen to her episode from 2018 when we discussed her novel, Everyone Knows You Go Home, and from 2020, when she spoke about her first YA novel, Running.
In May, Natalia's second YA novel, Breathe and Count Back From Ten, will be released. It's about a Latinx teenage girl with with hip dysplasia who dreams of being a mermaid at an attraction in Orlando. This is a very personal story for Natalia who also has hip dysplasia and endured several surgeries during her childhood as a result.
Natalia and I discuss how in some ways she's been writing this book her whole life, what she read in the early days of the pandemic to soothe her, and what she's been reading lately.
Click here to listen to the episode. You can help Natalia and the show by preordering her book here.
The first listener to reach out to us on Twitter or Facebook with the name of the author Natalia is reading now will receive a free book. Winners can choose from Everyone Knows You Go Home or Running.
If you have won a ReadMore giveaway in the last 90 days, you're ineligible. If you and I ever sold Girl Scout cookies together, you're probably ineligible. ReadMore doesn't have a friends and family plan. But we'll always have memories of Do-si-dos and Camp Mary Atkinson.
